Roman - Shades of grey tutorial - how to have one section in colour

this tag was made using a tube is by Roman Zaric called Lidia available HERE

I have used a freebie scrap kit called
 Shades of grey by me from my scraps blog HERE
 MASK No.144 by Weescotslass her blog is HERE

open frame cluster3 resize by 70% using smartsize
resize all layers UNCHECKED

open up paper6 resize by 70%

click inside the 2 frames, holding down the shift key while clicking inside each frame

then go to modify - expand by 2 and then copy and paste the paper as  new layer
then go to selections invert and hit the delete key to remove the excess
selections none

slide the bg paper layer underneath the frame layer

copy and paste the paper again as a new layer 
then go to layers - load/save mask - load mask from disk
apply the weescottslass mask 144
using these settings.

go to layers - merge group.

then resize this mask layer by 90% using smartsize

arrange this layer to the bottom, by going to layers - arrange - send to bottom

open up element 24 resize by 50% usin smartsize
 copy and paste as a new layer slide this beneath the frame and bg paper layer arrrange to the right

add a drop shadow

open up element 23 resize by 60%
 copy and paste as a new layer slide this beneath the frame and bg paper layer, arrange to the left

add a drop shadow

make the frame layer the active layer by clicking on it,
then click inside the frame, again and copy and paste tube or image of choice as a new layer
then go to selections - invert
and and hit the delete key to remove the excess,

if using the same roman tube as i did resize it by 50% for the left close up image
if using the gorjuss tubes like below, then resize by 70%

once done go to selections - none


add other elements from the kit,
i used ele 15 resize by 70% add a drop shadow and slide under the frame

add ele10 and add a drop shadow

ribbon4 resize by 70%
click inside the heart shape ribbon, hold the shift key down to get all the heart
go to selections - modify - expand by 2

go to selections invert

then make the tube/image layer the active layer

then go to adjust hue and saturation and move the sliders to zero
 see settings below

go to selections none

make the ribbon the active layer again and add a drop shadow

repeat the process by adding either another image or tube for the right side of the frame.

here is another version of the same tag...
once done save it as a .png with a unique name and you are done!

  2. I was able to locate a preset shape that worked well.
