Arthur Crowe - Baby Reindeer tut

scraps used - my Winter Wonderland kit plus my Tis the Season kit available from

tube by Arthur Crowe you must purchase his tubes HERE
Tube is called Baby reindeer comes with many layer options to choose from
 BigMask by Vix from her blog HERE
set bigmasks2

open up a new canvas 600 x 600 pixels

open up one of the papers from either kit
I used paper2 from Winter Wonderland

copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas

then apply Vix big mask vix big masks2 no 16
 

and go to layers- merge - merge group
then merge group 
and adjust hue and saturation to zero

add the red glitter resize by 25% duplicate and arrange to suit

add sparkles1 from WinterWonderland and duplicate and arrange to suit

add glitter circle

add the large version of the tube
adjust hue and saturation to zero

add frame then click inside and 
go to selections - modify - expand by 3 
then selections invert and hit delete key on keyboard to remove excess

go to selections none

on tube layer go to effects - plugins - xero -radiance
with following settings



then add tube called baby reindeer close up, 
close off layers you d not want by clicking on the eye in the layers pallette, 
copy merged and paste as a new layer on to your canvas

then resize using smartsize by 80%

add drop shadow

add element1  fromTis the season resize by 80% then resize right by 10%
add shadow

add snowflake element from Tis the Season resize by 30 -40% add shadow
add curly ribbon resize by 70%

add elements 3 from Tis the season add shadow

add your name and copyright 
save your tag

Here is my latest tag tutorial

 add masks to you masks folder
...................................................
Open up a new canvas 650 x 650 pixels
 open up paper11 from the kit ,
resize by 80%  using smartsize
then copy and paste paper as a new layer

apply mask 365 by vix
by going to Layers - Load/save mask from disk and choose number365 mask...
click apply or ok. depending on your version of PSP

go to Layers -merge group
move over to the right side then dupliacte and go to image - mirror

copy and paste the element - snowflakes from the kit

  copy and paste SnowChristmastree from the kit resize by 80%

 copy and paste dust Sparkle from the kit

copy and paste the swirl from the kit

go to image - mirror

copy and paste SnowELe1 from the kit and go to image mirror

 
copy and paste the frame called SnowswirlFrame1
duplicate this layer

add tube and resize by 80%
add a drop shadow

 copy and paste element called - winterCluster2 from the kit
resize by 80%
 add a drop shadow

add 3 flowers from the kit, resize by about 30%
 add a drop shadow

add your name and copyright then save your tag.

open canvas 650 x 600


then copy and paste frame from kit
resize by 80%

add drop shadow


add swirl2 as a new layer,
add  a drop shadow


add red leaves2 resize by 70%
then rotate right 90 degrees - add a shadow

add tag resize by 80%
add a shadow


add white branch add a shadow

add a paper from the kit
go to layers -Arrange -  send to bottom
this will move the paper layer to the bottom

with your selection tool set to rectangle -
draw out  a selection see below for screenshot

 

and then go to selections invert and hit the delete key to remove the excess

then add tubes of choice, to the frame
and remove the excess each time,  slide each of these layers beneath the frame layer

then add a full length tube for the front
and add a shadow

go to selections none

Copy and paste the red paper as a new layer

go to layers - arrange - send to bottom
this will move the paper layer to the bottom

add your copyright and save your tag

add the masks to your masks folder

open a new canvas 650 x 650 with a white background

Lets start - open paper 7 its the dark grey with white spots paper
  go to Layers -  load save mask -  load mask from disk  , select the mask called -WSL-mask 82

click load to apply it

go to - merge group

open snowflakes from the kit- copy and paste as a new layer

copy and paste winter-WA1 snow circle as a new layer -

 resize by 80% using smartsize

open snowswirlframe1 copy and paste as a new layer

copy and paste winter tree as a new layer

add a shadow , i used the following settings



the tube I used comes with a bonus close up, use that...

add as a new layer add a shadow then slide this layer beneath the tree layer

copy and paste winterFlakesWbow as a new layer

add a shadow as before
then duplicate and move this duplicate tube layer to the top layer

next, choose your eraser tool, i used the following settings

we are going to blend the tube layer with the swirl

so on the top tube I simply brushed the tube a couple of times where her skirt and legs were to erase it
so that you can see the swirl layer coming through then go to the bottom tube layer and do it again,
untill you are happy with the effect...

do not worry if you make a mistake just click the undo button and try again....

then add the words my friends are flakes in Porkys font

colour's used - background fill  blue html code #6e7c87 -  foreground white stroke 2

add copyright info

you could just save now as a .png
or to animate....continue

make the top layer active then add a new raster layer
and go to Effects - Plugins -Vanderlee -  Snowflakes

depending how much snow you want, you can change the settings,
I used the following

but if you want more snow change the amount slider
and if you want bigger flakes of snow change the maximum size slider
but as i said these were my settings..
click ok to apply the plugin

then go to copy merged and paste as new animation into animation shop

back to PSP
go to edit undo snowflakes

then apply it again but this time slide the random seed slider to 350
 go to copy merged - and paste into animation shop after current frame

back to PSP
apply the plugin one final time, this time slide the random seed to 450

again go to copy merged - and paste into animation shop after current frame

edit -  select all - then go to frame properties and
change the display time to 20 to slow the animation down a little...
save as a gif and your done , thanks for trying my tutorial, Diane x

Supplies needed:
tube of choice, i used art by Jamie Kidd which i bought from CILM
but is now available from CDO

snow animation supplied HERE This has been kicking about since 2009 and

no one seems to know where it is from originally so if its yours let me

know as i would love to give proper credit

PTU CLASSY & FABULOUS KIT is mine

1st you need to UNZIP the supplies add add the mask to your mask folder

0PEN UP A NEW CANVAS 650 x 650- you can always crop later,

Floodfill with white

open up cluster frame from the kit- called

CandysTreats-Cluster1ts.png add a drop shadow

resize using smartsize by 90%

open up paper 16 from the kit and copy and paste it

as a new layer onto your canvas slide this layer underneath the frame layer

*if you are not sure how to do this, then just go to layers - arrange - send to bottom*

go to Layers - Load/save mask - load mask from Disk and select the mask called

 weescottslass mask 230 with the following settings.

click load  then go to layers - merge group

then copy and paste as a new layer overlay4 from the kit

should be looking like this so far...

if using the same tube as me , you dont have to...any close up image with pretty eyes will do...

but if you are then copy and paste the back close up image from the tube

use your selection tool set to Circle , feather2, see my screen shot ,

select a circle around each eye and the lips, do the 1st one.. then hold down the shift

key to select the 2nd and 3rd and keep them all selected at the same time

then go to selections - invert and hit the delete key on your keyboard...this will delete the excess

then go to selections none

if you make a mistake, dont stress just hit undo and start again.
ok now still on the tube layer,

go to adjust - hue and saturation and slide both sliders to zero, which will greyscale the image..

now i wanted the eyes to pop a little more so duplicate it,

by going to- layers - duplicate 

go to layers - properties and change the blend mode from normal to soft light...

open up the blue circle from the kit called CandysTreats-toc-Circle3.png resize by 50% using

smartsize then copy and paste as a new layer onto your canvas slide beneath the frame layer arrange

to the left side do the same for the black circle, resize this one by 40% and slide this layer beneath both the frame and tube layers arrange to the rght

open up WA4 from the kit and resize by 50% and add to your canvas to the left

add your copyright and name with a font of choice

.......................................................

ok now to add the animated snow...
launch Animation Shop..

ok back to PSP...because of the layers this is a
litle tricky for beginners , but hopefully you can follow me...

personally i didnt want to just add the snow over the top of the entire tag....

so time to close some layer's
*its important to know that once begin to animated DO NOT MOVE ANYHTING,

as this will make your image etc appear to jump all over the place..*

red crosses mean that layer is invisible...i want you to

close off  the frame and both tube layers , plus your copyright and name layers.

so when done you shoud have something that looks like this to go over to AS

do this by simply clicking on the little eye of the layer you want to make invisible

copy merged whats left then copy as a new animation into animation shop...

this will be your 1st frame, now just copy and paste this frame after current animation,

keep doing this till you have 10 frames. then go to Edit - Select All

ok now open up the snow animation supplied

go to edit - select all and copy then paste into selected frame of your tag

make sure propagate paste button is pressed, this should add the snow animation to your tag.

back to PSP , time to close off all the background layers and
make your frame and tube layers visible only ...

 just click on the red cross to make layers visible again

 once you have the tube, frame copyright and name layers visable only
 copy merged into animatin shop as a new animation

 copy this frame and then paste after current animation, repeat the same preocess keep doing this till you have 10 frames.

then go to edit - select all

then copy and paste into selected frame over your tag and save as a gif
